Not-so-perfect Sunday Dinner

On Sunday we asked our friends, the Tilley's over for dinner. It was going to be our first guests over to the house, we spent all day Saturday cleaning it and making it look like ours (and not the woman's who owns it). I made a beautiful chicken pot pie for dinner and warm lemon cake for dessert. They arrived around 545. I turned up the heat on our gas stove so that their 16 month son, Aiden would see the flames and not touch it because it is very hot. I obviously need to learn a lot more about children because instead of scareing him away from it, he was mesmerized by it and within 15 minutes he planted his palm right on the glass. It was traumatizing for everyone involved. He was completely inconsolable and got two blisters on his hands. They ended up leaving 20 minutes later when they realized that it was blistering and not just a little singe. Needless to say, it wasn't exactly the night we were planning on :-\ So tonight on the way to cub scouts we're dropping off another pot pie for them to enjoy, because we figure they're never coming to OUR house again!

That looks delicious. Anytime you want to drop a pot pie off at our place, we'd gladly accept! ;-)

Jimmy LOOVES chicken pot, chicken pot, chicken pot PIIIIE. Oh, and that glass thing... he'll heal. My nephew was about 7 months old when he did that. Sounds weird, but we put applebutter on it and wrapped it up-- it healed right up. :p He was so cute w/ a little sock on his hand, too. Ha ha- (P.S. Seth never learned his lesson from touching hot things)...

I don't believe you'll ever have a "not-so-perfect" meal, even with the little ones burned hand. Your cooking can make walking through flames seem worth it somehow. Yum.

Speaking of dinner, when do you guys want to get together? I think it's time we meet Oliver in person! Want to meet at Flatbread on Friday night?
