Not-so-perfect Sunday Dinner

On Sunday we asked our friends, the Tilley's over for dinner. It was going to be our first guests over to the house, we spent all day Saturday cleaning it and making it look like ours (and not the woman's who owns it). I made a beautiful chicken pot pie for dinner and warm lemon cake for dessert. They arrived around 545. I turned up the heat on our gas stove so that their 16 month son, Aiden would see the flames and not touch it because it is very hot. I obviously need to learn a lot more about children because instead of scareing him away from it, he was mesmerized by it and within 15 minutes he planted his palm right on the glass. It was traumatizing for everyone involved. He was completely inconsolable and got two blisters on his hands. They ended up leaving 20 minutes later when they realized that it was blistering and not just a little singe. Needless to say, it wasn't exactly the night we were planning on :-\ So tonight on the way to cub scouts we're dropping off another pot pie for them to enjoy, because we figure they're never coming to OUR house again!

J'aime les livres!

On Tuesday I had a car because Oliver had a doctor's appointment. The FNP said that he has a viral infection in his eyes and that I just need to wash his eyes daily and eventually it will clear up. She said I could also do antibiotic drops-but I'm pretty against antibiotics unless absolutely necessary. After his appointment I had 5 hours with a car, so I drove down to Borders in Concord to spend a gift card my lovely mother-in-law gave to me for Christmas. I spent about 2 1/2 hours just browsing, it was awesome:) I ended up buying a french book and spanish book for Oliver, a day planner and "quotationary" which I have been coveting for about 3 months! Finally, I also got Oliver an awesome book...a rhyming Bible! Its awesome! I think I bought it more for myself:) That night I read Oliver his french book, and this is page 3...

Needless to say, it is not the book I thought it was going to be!
After the bookstore, I drove home, but Ollie decided he was hungry so I fed him at a gas station off of the highway in Canterbury...sketchy!After that I drove home, picked up my mom, voted, then wentto cub scouts with Shane. He only has 2 boys, and 1 of them is taking ski lessons for 6 weeks!

Yesterday Shane, Oliver, and I travelled to the seacoast. We spent a bunch of giftcards that we got for Christmas. You know youre all gron up when you use gifcards to buy diapers, wipes, ravors, shaving cream and toothpaste! how exciting! We had a great meal at Bugaboo Creek. We had planned on using a giftcard to go to Olive Garden, but it was PACKED- we guessed there was a 45-60 min. wait. WE probably could have waited, but Oliver couldn't! I needed a place to sit down so that I could feed Ollie, so we went to Bugaboo and we were very happy with our choice. It costs a little more than other chain restaurants, but we totally recommend it!

New Hampshire

So Marisa has a friend who sewed her a stuffed New Hampshire. We are trying to market her stuffed states. She can sew any state that you want for five dollars. They're fun gifts, and if you have a missionary it s a good gift to send! She'll even do countries! Let me know if you are interested and I will get you in contact with her. (I don't know why this is showing up as a link, but there isnt one)

We had a great vacation with mysister, Marisa home from BYU. We had a lot of fun together and Imay not get to see her again until Christmas! She is planning on going to Australia for the summer. For selfish reasons, Idon't want her to go because we had such a good time together! On New Years Day we drove down to Conn. for my grandfather's 80th birthday. The "Cheney nation" got to meet Oliver which was nice. I did not have a voice for the whole day because of a nasty cold I got (oh the joys of a Primary calling...) I did not have a voice for an entire week...I had to whisper everything-it was actually quite nice and very quiet:) Unfortunately Ollie caught the cold:( Needless to say mine and Shane's hearts have been broken all week- hearing his raspy breathing, seeing his mucousy spitup, clearing out his nose... To top it off, it looks like he has a plugged tear duct which means he has tearsstreaming down his face all day and goop stuck in his eye. In the morning we have to put a warm washcloth on his eye for it to open, its very sad. I'm going to the pediatrician tomorrow to make sure everythings ok. Shane is going to court tomorrow to contest a ticket he got in April! Hopefully the cop won't show up, then Shane doesn't have to pay! Almost forgot-2 Sunday's ago Shane blessed Oliver in church- itwas a very sweet blessing- Oliver even got choked up-literally! He started choking in the middle of the blessing-it was quite scary! Later, during the sacrament, he let out a huge belch-it was awesome:)
